The four fields
On the Inventory info tab of a product (and on the product category) you can set:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Minimum stock | The least you want to hold |
| Maximum stock | The most you want to hold |
| Reorder level | The quantity at which it is time to buy again |
| Reorder QTY | How much you usually order. A record for the buyer: nothing reads it |
The levels belong to the product, not to a warehouse: they are compared with the total the product has in a branch.
Where you see them
- Stock status shows each product's quantity next to its Minimum stock and Maximum stock, so you can see at a glance what is below or above (Stock status).
- The product list shows the Reorder level and the Stock on hand (Products: what the stock side needs from a product).
- A dashboard can show the Product status widget with Min limit, Max limit, Reorder level and Stock.
The nightly alert
Penahak can send a message each night listing the products of a branch whose stock is at or below the Reorder level. Whether your company receives it depends on the notification set-up and on who is named as a recipient for the product reorder alert. Ask support to switch it on.
Setting levels in bulk
Set them on the product category and every new product you add to the category starts with them (Product categories and sub categories). Imports can include them as columns (Products: what the stock side needs from a product).
Common questions
We never get the low stock message.
The alert is not switched on for the company, nobody is named to receive it, or the product's Reorder level is 0 (a level of 0 is skipped). Ask support.
Stock status shows a product below its minimum but no alert came.
Stock status reads the Minimum stock; the alert reads the Reorder level. They are different fields.
