A customer is a ledger. Give it a name, a PAN or the choice "None", an area and agent if you use them, and the credit terms that sales will be checked against.
Open Customer (menu Chart of Accounts › Customer). The list shows each customer with its PAN, mobile, agent, area, credit limit and balance. Opening a customer shows Customer - name with its quotations, orders, delivery notes, invoices, returns and transactions, and a Due status tab that lists what it owes invoice by invoice (see A customer's statement and balance).
A customer is a ledger under Sundry debtors. Customers made while selling (the + beside the customer field on an invoice) are the same thing.
