What a requisition is
A purchase requisition (many companies say indent) is a written request inside the company: "we need these products, by this date, for this purpose". It records nothing in the books and nothing in stock. It exists so that the buying that follows (quotations, orders) can be traced to a need and approved.
Open Purchase requisition (menu Purchase Entries). The list shows the Requisition voucher no, Date, Expiry date, Branch, Project/Business Unit, Priority and a Status. The tiles above it show Total purchase requisition, Total ordered requisition and Total due purchase requisition.

Approve it
When your company uses approval for requisitions (Approvals for purchases and vouchers), an approver opens the requisition and chooses Approve. For each line the approver sets an Approved QTY and Approved for, the purpose the line is approved for. Every line needs an answer: "Approved for option is required for every item on requisition." and "Some rows have a value of 0 or null. Please check."
What you can do from it
| You want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Ask suppliers for prices | RFQ Print: choose the document number, the suppliers and the products, add remarks, and print (Record a supplier's quotation) |
| Record a supplier's price | A Purchase quotation with Purchase Requisition no (From requisition to order, goods received note and invoice) |
| Order straight away | A Purchase order with Purchase Requisition no |
| Start a similar one | Copy to new |
| Change it | Edit, until it is approved (where approval is on), expired or its year is locked. A quotation or order made from it does not stop the edit, so check them before you change quantities |
| Remove it | Delete, until it is approved, expired or its year is locked (Change or delete a saved purchase document) |
