Branches
A company can have several branches (shops, offices, outlets). When the company is set up with branch control on:
- Every sales document is saved in your current branch and keeps it. Editing a saved invoice leaves it in its original branch.
- The lists open filtered to your branch. A Branch column appears in the lists when your user is assigned to more than one branch.
- Numbering series belong to a branch. The Add button offers only the series of your branch, so each branch numbers its own documents: see Document numbering for sales.
- If you work in more than one branch, open your profile menu and choose Switch branch. Your branch name is shown next to your name.
Projects or business units
Project/Business Unit is a second tag a sale can carry, for a business that wants results by project or unit instead of by branch.
- The field appears on sales documents when the Project/Business Unit control is enabled in Entry control (it can be made required there).
- A customer can also be given a project on the customer screen.
- With Show only business unit project on entry point, the field is required on the sales screens.
See Entry control: which fields the sales screens show and Company settings that change selling.
Common questions
Is a customer's credit limit checked across all branches?
No. On the standard sales screens the amount check adds the new invoice to the customer's balance in your branch (Credit limit and credit days on sales screens).
Some invoices are missing from my list.
The lists open filtered to your current branch, so another branch's invoices are not shown there. If you work in more than one branch, choose Switch branch in your profile menu.
Can two branches share one numbering series?
No. A series belongs to one branch, so every branch needs its own, and a new one for each fiscal year (Start a new fiscal year).
