What it shows
Open Product Ageing (menu Inventory Reports › Product Ageing, usual label). Choose:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| As at date | The date to look at |
| Ageing days | The size of one column in days (30 gives 1-30, 31-60 and so on) |
| Ageing column | How many columns to show; the last is "more than" |
| Warehouse, Product | Optional filters |
The report shows, for each product and each column, the QTY and the Stock value of the goods that came in that long ago. A column such as "> 90" is the stock you have held longest.
How to use it
- Look at the oldest columns for products that sell slowly. These are candidates for a discount, a transfer to a busier store, or a write-off (Adjust stock: counts, damage, expiry and write-offs).
- Do not expect the totals of a product across the columns to equal its balance: see the warning below.
Common questions
The totals do not match the stock summary.
They can differ a lot: the report does not take sales off the oldest goods in order (see above). Use it to find products with old stock, and Stock summary for the balance.
A product I sold out still shows.
Sales are not matched to the purchases they came from, so some quantity can remain. Check Stock summary.
Which columns do Ageing days and Ageing column give?
The report opens with Ageing days 30 and Ageing column 4: three columns of 30 days each and a fourth, "> 90", for anything older than 90 days. With Ageing days 60 and Ageing column 3 you get two columns of 60 days and "> 120". The last column is always the "more than" one.
