What it is
Most entry screens have a Notes box (on vouchers it also exists on each line as Narration). The Notes screen keeps a list of ready-made texts. Each has a Title, a Description (the text that goes into the box) and the Modules (the kinds of document) it is offered on.
Make a saved note
- Open Notes and choose Add new notes
- Choose the modules
- Save
Use a saved note
Beside the Notes label of a document there is a small button. It lists the saved notes of that kind of document. Choose one and its description fills the Notes box (it replaces what is typed there). The last item of the list, Add, lets you save a new note without leaving the document.
Common questions
Does a saved note fill the Narration of each voucher line?
No. It fills the Notes box of the document. Type each line's Narration yourself.
How do I change or remove a saved note?
On the Notes screen the notes are listed by kind of document. Each one has an edit button, for its Title and Description, and a delete button.
A note is not offered on the receipt voucher.
It was saved without that kind of document ticked. The edit button does not change the modules, so save a new note, with its own title, and tick the receipt voucher.
Can the Notes box be made compulsory?
Yes, in Entry control: tick Required for Notes for the entry type you want (Entry control: which fields the sales screens show).
