Product mapping: categories in bulk
Product Mapping (menu Inventory Setup › Product Mapping, usual label) sets the category of many products in one go instead of editing each one.
- Choose the group
- Tick the products
- Save
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Product category must be selected to map a product. | Choose the category first |
| Please select a product to map with a Category and Subcategory | Tick at least one product |
| All product will be un-mapped from sub group. | You left Sub Category empty: the ticked products lose their sub category. Confirm to go on |
Mapping changes grouping only. It does not change stock, value or any posting.
Warehouse mapping: products by warehouse
In Product settings, the Warehouse mapping tab lists products with a Warehouse column. Choose the warehouse(s) each product belongs to and choose Save: "Successfully mapped product with warehouse."
This changes what a document line offers:
| The chosen warehouse has | The product list on a line offers |
|---|---|
| Products mapped to it | Only those products |
| No product mapped to it | Every product |
On a company with several branches the tab works branch by branch: it shows the warehouses of the branch you choose.
Which warehouses a user sees
The warehouses a user may use are set on the warehouse itself, in its User field (Which warehouse a document line uses), not on this tab.
Common questions
Can I move a product into a warehouse it is not mapped to?
Yes. The mapping narrows the product list of the sales and purchase lines only. A Stock Transfer or a Stock adjustment line does not look at the mapping (Move stock between warehouses with a stock transfer).
