Record an import purchase

Choose the purchase type Import on a purchase invoice and the Import details tab opens. It keeps the pragyapan patra (customs declaration) number and date, the customs amounts and the transport details, and the VAT purchase reports show them in their own columns.

For Accountant Purchase clerk

What changes for an import

A purchase invoice has a Purchase type: Local or Import. Choose Import when the goods come through customs. Three things change on the invoice:

  • The VAT adjustment's rate and value are set to 0: import VAT is paid at customs, not to the supplier.
  • The Import details tab opens. For a local purchase it is switched off and its fields are cleared.
  • The VAT purchase reports show the invoice's import amounts in separate columns (The VAT purchase reports).

The purchase type cannot be changed once the invoice is saved: make a new invoice.
