Take the payment: cash, bank and wallet

The payment lines must cover the total. Cash gives change; a bank or wallet payment is recorded against a bank you choose. Nothing is saved until you press Sales/Print.

Gift cardGift cardA card the shop sold earlier (Sell a gift card and pay with one)

Take cash

  1. Look at Cash
    Who
    Cashier
    Where
POS Sales > the Cash box
    What changes
It already holds the whole Total. If the customer gives exact money, nothing more to do.
  2. Type what the customer gives
    Where
    Cash
    What changes
Tender amount shows what is paid and Return amount shows the change to give back.
  3. Save
    Where
    Sales/Print
    What changes
The cash taken, less the change, goes into the drawer and the books (Save the bill: Sales/Print).

Take a bank or wallet payment

  1. Choose the method
    Who
    Cashier
    Where
    POS Sales > Bank/Wallet Payment
    What changes
Three boxes appear: Your Bank/Wallet (Deposited), Bank/Wallet amount and (when your company has bank charges) Bank charge. The amount starts as the whole remaining total and Cash falls to 0.
  2. Choose the bank
    Where
    Your Bank/Wallet (Deposited)
    What changes
The company's default bank is chosen for you. Change it when the money goes into another bank or wallet account.
  3. Check the amount
    Where
    Bank/Wallet amount
    What changes
It cannot be more than the total. For a part payment lower it and Cash takes the rest.
  4. Confirm the money arrived, then save
    Where
    Sales/Print
    What changes
The payment is recorded against the bank you chose.
What happens to each payment when the bill is saved
PaymentCash drawerAccounting (a moment later)
CashThe cash given, less the change, is in the drawer and counts toward the hand overA receipt to the branch's cash account
Bank/Wallet PaymentNothingA receipt to the bank or wallet account you chose. A Bank charge, if chosen, is moved from that bank to the shop's bank charge expense
Gift cardNothingThe card's balance is used, and the gift card account settles that part of the bill
Loyalty discount cardNothingNot a payment: it lowers the bill itself
On credit (nothing paid)NothingNothing: the unpaid part stays on the customer's account

When the payment is not enough

Unless the customer is on credit, the payment lines must add up to the total, otherwise the screen says Please pay full amount to proceed. and nothing is saved. With no payment line at all it says "Please select a payment option."

Common questions

The change is wrong.

Check Tender amount (cash + bank + gift card) against the Total. Change shows only from the cash given.

The Bank charge box is missing.

It shows only when your company has bank charges set up. Ask Penahak support.

The deposited bank is empty.

The company has no Default bank. Choose the bank by hand, and ask your accountant to set the default in Configuration.

The customer paid by card but the machine printed a failure slip. Can I save the bill?

Do not save it as Bank/Wallet Payment. The till only records the payment, it does not check it with the bank. Take cash, or hold the bill (Put a bill on hold and recall it) and wait for the machine.

Can the card payment be more than the bill, so the customer gets change?

No. A bank, wallet or gift card amount cannot be more than what is owed, and only cash gives change.
