What a scheme does
A scheme gives a percentage discount on the products you choose for the dates you choose. At the till nothing is typed: when the cashier scans a product that is in a running scheme, the line shows the Discount and the lower Net amount (Discounts and adjustments on the bill).
Set up a scheme
The screens are on the page Scheme settings (and as separate entries under POS Settings › Scheme). Its tabs are Customer group, Scheme group, Scheme (with Scheme product mapping and Customer scheme mapping) and General scheme.
- Add a scheme group
- Add the scheme
- Choose the products
A scheme runs from its Start date to its End date if it is Active. A scheme For all products needs no mapping: it applies to every product that allows schemes.
Who gets the discount
At the till: every customer, including a walk-in: the till does not look at the customer for schemes. Discounts that depend on who the customer is (Customer group, Customer scheme mapping, General scheme, the For all customer switch) are used on the invoice screens of Accounting, which know the customer when the product is chosen. They do not change a POS bill.
Common questions
The scheme is running but the till shows no discount.
Check the dates and Active; that the product is mapped (or the scheme is For all products); that the product's Scheme applicable is on; and that the adjustment chosen on the scheme is a product-level discount adjustment. Open POS Sales again after changing sales adjustments: the till reads them when it opens.
Can a scheme give a discount on the whole bill?
Choose a bill-level discount adjustment as the scheme's Adjustment: its rate is replaced by the scheme's percentage on every bill while the scheme runs.
Why does a loyal customer not get the customer-group discount at the till?
Customer-based discounts apply on Accounting invoices only.
Does the cashier need to do anything for the scheme?
No. The line shows the discount when the product is scanned. The cashier does not type it.
