Change a quantity
- Press + or - on the line to add or remove one.
- Or type the quantity in the box and leave it (press Tab or click elsewhere). The totals follow.
- A quantity cannot go below 1 with the minus button. To take a line off the bill, tick it and delete it (below), or use Void/Reset to clear the whole bill (The POS Sales screen).
- The unit shown with the quantity is the product's own unit. The till does not convert units.
The stock limit
What the till does when you ask for more than the shop has depends on the company's Negative stock setting (Configuration settings the till uses):
| Negative stock | At the till |
|---|---|
| Block | The till knows the stock on hand of each stocked product. Asking for more shows Not in stock for that quantity and the quantity stays; scanning a product whose stock is used up shows "Available Stock is ..." |
| Warn or Ignore | The till does not check against the shop's stock, and does not warn. It stops a single line at 2,000 |
A service (a product that is not stocked) is limited to 500 on a line whatever the setting.
The stock the till knows is the stock of your branch's default warehouse (Find and add products). A batch product is counted by batch.
Delete lines
- Tick the lines
- Press the bin
- Type the secret key
The secret key is a company setting that your administrator keeps (Configuration settings the till uses). Ask a supervisor if you do not have it.
Questions customers ask
Why does the line stop at 2,000?
When the company does not block negative stock (Warn or Ignore), the till limits one line to 2,000 (500 for a service). It is the till's own limit, not the shop's stock. With Block the limit is the stock on hand.
I ticked two lines and pressed the bin but the lines are still there.
The till asks for the shop's Secret key. A wrong key says "Not matched secret key"; if the shop has set no key at all, a line cannot be deleted. Ask a supervisor, who can ask the accountant to set the key in Configuration (Configuration settings the till uses).
Can I sell a carton by the piece?
The till does not convert units. The unit shown with the quantity is the product's own unit.
Two cashiers sold the last item together. Why did the shop's stock go below zero?
The stock check is made on the screen, not when the bill is saved. Count and correct the stock regularly.
