Three ways to add a product
- Scan or type the code
- Type part of the name
- Open the search drawer
The list in the second and third way shows the quantity on hand when your company blocks negative stock (Quantities, units and the stock limit).
What decides whether a product can be sold
A product is added only when it is active, not locked, and it is not the company's cancel product. A product the shop never received stock of can still be sold when the company allows negative stock. The product's rate comes from Sales rate on the product, or the batch's rate for a batch product. A product marked VAT inclusive shows its price without VAT and the VAT is added to the total (VAT, rounding and the kind of invoice).
Common questions
The product is in the system but the till says it was not found.
It is probably inactive or locked, or the code typed is not its SKU. Ask the stores person to check Products (Problems by symptom).
The list stays empty although the barcode works.
The branch has more than one default warehouse. Your accountant keeps exactly one on Warehouses (Set up a shop for the retail POS: checklist).
Can I sell a product at another price?
Not by typing a price: the rate comes from the product. The Rate link of a line opens Datewise rate details: double-click one of the product's dated rates to use it for that line (Discounts and adjustments on the bill).
Can a gift card go on the same bill as other products?
No. A gift card number starts with GCP and is sold as a gift card on its own bill: "Normal product and gift card product cannot be purchased in a single transaction." (Sell a gift card and pay with one)
Can I sell a product the shop has not received into stock?
Yes, when the company allows negative stock (Warn or Ignore). With Block the till limits the quantity to the stock on hand (Quantities, units and the stock limit).
Why does the name box show nothing when I type two letters?
It needs three letters before it lists products.
