Print the receipt and reprint a bill

The receipt prints through the Penahak POS desktop app on the till. A reprint is stamped as a copy of the original and counted. A shop must design its receipt once, or printing is refused.

Save and print on Sales/Print prints the receipt on the till's printer (Save the bill: Sales/Print). What is on the receipt (the logo, the address, the phone number, the slogan, the return policy and so on) is chosen per branch on Receipt design (Receipt design: what the printed receipt shows). The heading says Abbreviated invoice or Tax invoice (VAT, rounding and the kind of invoice).

The printing is done by the Penahak POS desktop app on the till computer, on its saved printer (or the computer's default printer when none is saved).

When printing fails

  • A window Printing failed names the printer and the reason, with Retry print and Cancel. Fix the printer (power, paper, cable, online) and press Retry print. The retry asks the app to look at the printer again. Press it once: pressing it several times can print the receipt twice.
  • The message "The receipt has not been designed yet." means the branch has no Receipt design yet. The bill is saved. Ask your administrator to save the design, then reprint (Receipt design: what the printed receipt shows).
  • Any other error: the bill is saved. Reprint it.

Reprint a bill

  1. Open the menu
    Who
    Cashier
    Where
POS Sales > the three dots > Reprint bill
    What changes
A small window Reprint bill opens with Receipt no.
  2. Type the bill number
    Where
Receipt no (placeholder Enter Receipt No)
    What changes
Type the number printed on the receipt and press Enter.
  3. Take the copy
    What changes
The receipt prints again, headed (copy of original n) where n counts the copies so far. Each reprint is counted.

A copy is not a new bill: nothing changes in the books, the stock or the IRD.

Common questions

How many copies can I print?

As many as you need. Each is stamped as a copy and counted.

The customer wants the original again.

The original is the first print. Any later print says it is a copy.

Nothing prints and no message shows.

Check that the Penahak POS desktop app is open on the till and has a printer chosen (Problems by symptom).

Does the till print again by itself after a failed print?

No. Nothing is sent to the printer again until you press Retry print: a lost answer could put one bill on paper twice.

The receipt prints but the logo is missing.

Check Show company logo on the branch's Receipt design and that the company has a logo (Receipt design: what the printed receipt shows).
