The idea
A cashier takes responsibility for a till's cash when they press Accept at the start (Open the till and accept the cash). At the end they hand the cash over: they count it, the screen compares the count with what the till should hold, and the cash goes to a named person. The record is the shop's control of its cash drawers.
The screen is Terminal cash, with three tabs: Cash handover, Terminal sales and Branch sales (the last two are reports: Terminal sales and branch sales).
Hand over
- Open your responsibility
- Check the cash sales
- Count the drawer
- Choose who takes the cash
- Accept
A hand over can be printed from its row. A later user who opens the same till sees the closing amount you transferred (Open the till and accept the cash).
| Area | Change |
|---|---|
| Your responsibility | Closed, with the count by note, the person who took the cash and your notes |
| Excess or less | Recorded on the hand over in whole rupees. Nothing is booked in Accounting: the accountant books a shortage or excess by hand if the shop wants it |
| The next person | With Is transfer, the closing amount is offered to the person you named when they accept this till |
| Sales and payments | Nothing changes: the bills and their receipts are already in Accounting |
| Your till tomorrow | Opens normally. A responsibility left open from an earlier day blocks it until you hand over |
What the amounts mean
- Initial amount: the float (petty cash) and any cash transferred to you.
- Transaction amount: the cash taken on the till since you accepted, less the change and the cash refunds.
- Closing amount: initial + transaction: what the drawer should hold.
Common questions
My open responsibility is not in the list.
The list shows only your own, filtered to Handover = No. Remove the filter, or check the date.
The sales amount is higher than the cash I have.
Check whether a colleague gave change or took cash on the same till, whether a cash refund was paid, and whether a card payment was keyed as cash (Terminal sales and branch sales).
The Handover to list is empty.
No user of the branch has a supervisor role. The administrator switches Is this a supervisor role ? on for the role of the people who may take the cash (Who may do what: roles, scopes and the supervisor role).
Can a supervisor close a cashier's hand over?
Not from the supervisor's login. The cashier hands over from their own login.
The excess or the less I typed to confirm shows no paisa. Where did it go?
The hand over works in whole rupees. A paisa difference is dropped, both on the screen and in the saved excess or less.
We work until after midnight. Is the late cash in my hand over?
No. The hand over counts the cash taken from the moment you accepted until midnight of that day. Hand over at the end of each shift, and let the next person accept the till.
When do I switch Is transfer on?
When the cash stays in the drawer for the person you named, who takes over this till. They are told the Closing amount when they accept the till, and it is added to the float as their Initial amount.
