Take payment
- Open the bill
- Check the bill
- Choose the payment method
- Confirm
Cash
Type the amount received in Cash received: (or press a quick amount button). The screen shows Change when the guest gives more. If the amount is less than the total: Amount entered (X) is less than the total (Y).
Card
Type the Card amount: and choose the bank (Select bank:; the company's default bank is chosen for you). A card or QR payment is never more than the bill: change is given only in cash.
QR / Mobile
Type the Amount received: and choose the bank the money goes to. The guest scans your QR code and pays.
If the till has a QR merchant set up, press Generate Dynamic QR: a window shows a QR code for the exact amount, and a message says QR payment confirmed. when the payment arrives. If it says Enter a valid amount before generating QR, type the amount first; Failed to generate QR means the QR could not be made: take the payment by another method or ask your administrator.
Split Pay
Use Split Pay when one bill is paid in several ways: part cash, part card. Add a row for each payment with + Add Payment (pick Cash, Card or QR and type the amount). The screen shows Total paid: Rs. X | Balance: Rs. Y, and Short by Rs. X until the payments cover the total. To split among guests, use the Split tab: Split the bill between guests.
The cash line takes the change: when the guest hands over more cash than is left to pay, the change comes off the cash line, never off a card or QR line. Card and QR together cannot be more than the bill. Each payment goes to its own account: the cash to the cash book, each card or QR line to the bank chosen for it. The cash shift counts the cash part of the bill in its expected cash (Open and close the cash shift).
Tip
A tip is not part of the bill: it is not on the invoice, not in sales and not in VAT. Type it in Tip (not part of the invoice) and take the bill and the tip together: the payment fields, the quick amounts and Confirm Payment then show the bill plus the tip. The tip goes with the tender you take it in: with Split Pay it goes with the cash line if there is one, else with the first line that covers it.
The tip is recorded with the bill in Accounting as a receipt into the cash book (or the bank, for card and QR) for the Tips payable ledger; the staff are paid from that ledger later (Open and close the cash shift). The printed bill shows the tip below the total, then the amount paid.
The Tip field is off, with the line To take tips, set the Tips payable ledger in Restaurant POS > Settings., until your administrator sets that ledger (Restaurant POS Settings). A check charged to a room or event takes no tip (Charge a check to a hotel room or event).
Leave the bill for later
For a regular customer who pays later, choose the customer and switch Payment as Due sales: Bill a customer on account (Due sale).

Common questions
The guest wants a receipt for each person.
Use Split Pay or the Split tab (Split the bill between guests). The bill stays one invoice; the receipts show the payments.
We took the payment but the bill is not posted.
See Problems by symptom: look at the Floor View's Due Bill Summary first.
Can I reopen a table after it was paid?
No. A posted bill cannot be reopened or changed. Return the items on the same day (Sales Return: give back items of a paid bill) and bill the table again as a new check.
Can I post a bill without a payment?
Only when every dish is complimentary, or the bill is left as a Due sale to a customer (Bill a customer on account (Due sale)).
Why is the tip not in the bill's total?
A tip is not a sale. It is shown below the total and paid with the bill, and Accounting keeps it in Tips payable for the staff.
The guest pays the bill by card and leaves a tip in cash. Can I take both?
Yes, with Split Pay: a Card line for the bill and a Cash line for the tip. With Split Pay the tip goes with the cash line if there is one, else with the first line that covers it.
