    What changes
A message shows Discount applied: X | New total: Y, and the Bill tab lists the discount line. The discount is only for this bill.

If you close the bill panel before taking payment, the discount is not kept: set it again when you reopen the bill.

A discount on one dish

On the Bill tab press the tag icon (Product discount) of a line. The window Product Discount - dish asks for the Discount Type (% Percentage or Rs. Amount) and the value; press Apply. The discount cannot be more than the line's amount. A complimentary line has no discount button.

A complimentary (house) dish

Press the gift icon (Comp item (house)) of a line, optionally write a Reason, and press Comp Item. The screen says "Item comped". The dish stays on the bill and the invoice at zero value and carries no VAT or service charge; its stock (and its recipe's ingredients) still leaves the store.

To undo it, press Undo comp and Remove Comp (The item will be charged at full price.): "Comp removed".

  • When every dish is complimentary, the bill is posted for nothing and takes no payment.
  • When some dishes are complimentary, the guest must pay the rest in full: the screen says Some items are complementary. Please pay the remaining amount of Rs. X.

Common questions

Can I give a whole bill free?

Use Comp Item on every dish: a bill whose dishes are all complimentary is posted without payment. A 100% discount on the bill is not enough: the screen still asks for a payment line.

Where is the reason of a discount?

A discount has no reason field. A comp has one.

Did my discount reach the invoice?

Yes: the posted bill and its invoice carry it. Look at Reports › Bill History, column Discount.

The guest wants one dish free but the rest at full price. Which do I use?

Comp that dish with the gift icon. A bill discount takes a percentage or an amount off the whole bill, and a product discount (the tag icon) off one dish; a comp makes the dish free.
