One product list
The menu you see when taking an order is the list of products in Penahak Accounting. Add, rename or reprice a dish there and the order screen shows it within a few minutes. There is no second price list to keep in step.
A product appears on the menu when it is:
- Active;
- not a fixed asset;
- at the finished goods stage (the product stage is finished goods).
Each dish needs:
| Field of the product | Why |
|---|---|
| Name and SKU | Shown on the card; the SKU or barcode can be typed in the barcode box |
| Sales price | The price on the card |
| VAT applicable | Whether VAT is added on the bill for this dish. A complimentary dish carries no VAT |
| Product group | The category chip the dish sits under, and the key to its station: see Kitchen stations and product group routing |
| Sales ledger | Where the sale is booked in the accounts |
| Image (optional) | The picture on the card |
The menu on the order screen
- The category chips are the product groups, plus All. The search box (Search menu...) finds by name or SKU. The barcode box (Scan barcode or type SKU; press F1 to jump to it) adds the matching item.
- Each card shows the price the guest pays. A card greyed out cannot be added: see Problems by symptom.
- A dish with options opens Customize (Modifiers: options on a dish); a combo adds its parts (Combos and bundles).
Common questions
A dish is missing from the menu.
Check in Accounting that the product is active, is at the finished goods stage, and is not a fixed asset.
The price on the card is not the price I typed.
The card shows the price with VAT when the dish carries VAT. See From the bill to the invoice in Accounting.
We want a dish only at the bar.
Give it a product group routed to the bar station: see Kitchen stations and product group routing.
Why is a dish greyed out?
A greyed card cannot be added: it is marked unavailable or out of stock (Problems by symptom).
