List the holidays once, then give them dates for each attendance year and branch. A floating holiday is optional: it counts as a holiday only for an employee who asks for it and whose manager approves.
A holiday is a day nobody is expected at work. Penahak shows it as Holiday on the attendance sheet, so it is never absent and never takes leave.
There are two kinds:
A public holiday has dates for the branch and applies to everyone there.
A floating holiday has dates too, but it is optional: it counts as a holiday only for an employee who asks for it and whose request is approved.
Set up holidays
Open Leave management setting (Attendance › Leave management) and the Holiday tab. It has two lists.
1
Add the holiday
Who
HR officer
Where
Holiday › Holiday master › Add
What changes
Enter the Holiday name and Holiday type. Tick Floating for a holiday employees may take or not.
2
Give it dates for the year
Where
Holiday › Yearly holiday rule › Add, or Yearly holiday rule (bulk) for many at once
What changes
Pick the Fiscal year (the attendance year), the Branch and the Start date and End date. The dates must be inside the attendance year: otherwise the screen refuses them.
Ask for a floating holiday
1
Employee asks
Who
Employee
Where
Employee request › Holiday request › Add
What changes
Choose the floating Holiday (listed with its dates), Requested to, and add notes.
2
Manager decides
Who
Manager
Where
The holiday requests on the Manager dashboard
What changes
Approve or Reject. An approved floating holiday shows as Holiday on that employee's attendance. The employee can cancel a request (Who approves what).
An employee cannot ask twice for the same floating holiday while an earlier request is still open or approved.
Common questions
Does a floating holiday use up leave days?
No. An approved floating holiday shows as Holiday on the attendance sheet and takes nothing from the leave balance.
Employees at Head office were absent on a holiday we entered.
Check that the Yearly holiday rule names the branch they belong to and that its dates are inside the attendance year. A public holiday applies to the people of the branch it is given to.
