Two statuses per room
| Front office | From |
|---|---|
| Vacant | No guest in house |
| Occupied | A guest is checked in |
| Housekeeping | Means |
|---|---|
| Dirty | Needs cleaning (after check-out, or a stayover not serviced yet) |
| Pickup | Cleaned, waiting for inspection |
| Clean | Cleaned |
| Inspected | Cleaned and passed inspection |
A room is ready for an arriving guest when it is Clean or Inspected; where the hotel inspects every room, only when it is Inspected. A room can also be blocked (out of order, out of service) for some nights: see Work orders, room blocks and preventive maintenance.
How the status changes
| Event | Housekeeping status |
|---|---|
| Check-out | Dirty, with a departure clean queued |
| Room move | The old room becomes Dirty |
| A cleaning task is completed | Clean, or Pickup where rooms are inspected |
| Inspection passed | Inspected |
| Inspection failed (Fail - clean again) | Dirty, and the task reopens |
| Set by hand on the board (Set status) | Whatever the supervisor chooses |
The board
Housekeeping › Rooms shows every room as a tile (for a tablet) or a list: status, arrivals, departures, stayovers, VIPs, do-not-disturb (DND) and make-up-room (MUR) requests, the attendant and the task. Counters show Vacant dirty, To inspect, Arrivals not ready and more. The board refreshes every minute.
Discrepancies
Housekeeping › Discrepancies lists rooms where housekeeping and the front desk disagree:
- Sleepers: no guest in house, but the room is marked occupied;
- Skippers: a guest in house, but the room is marked vacant;
- Block mismatch: a block and the room's status disagree.
Check each room and correct it: these stop the night audit until resolved or waived. A vacant dirty room is only a warning.
