Restaurant in a hotel
When the restaurant's branch has an active hotel, the Restaurant POS shows one more tender: Charge to room / event. Everything else works as before: a check paid at the table (cash, card) keeps the restaurant's own invoice and receipt.
Charge a check to a room
- Choose the tender Charge to room / event
- Find the guest or event
- Read the confirmation
- Charge (amount) to folio
| Area | Change |
|---|---|
| Restaurant | The check is closed as charged to a room or event; no restaurant invoice |
| Folio | One line per item; the hotel's routing may send food to a company or group folio |
| Credit | The stay's credit limit and no-post apply; a manager approves above them |
| Package | A meal included in the guest's package is taken from the package; only the rest is charged |
| Invoice | The items appear once, on the hotel's invoice at check-out |
| Stock | Leaves the restaurant's store on the hotel invoice, not at the table |
Voids and refunds
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Void an item while the guest's folio is open | Void it in the POS as usual: the folio line is voided with it |
| Refund a whole charged check before check-out | Restaurant POS > Sales return › Folio charges: the check leaves the folio. A manager approves |
| After the guest checked out (the folio is invoiced) | Not from the POS. The hotel issues a credit note on the folio's invoice: see Credit notes and reopening an invoice |
A part refund of a charged check is not offered: the whole check leaves the folio.
Common questions
I don't see Charge to room / event.
It shows only when the restaurant's branch has an active hotel in Penahak. When the hotel has just been switched on, it appears within two minutes.
Can the guest pay part at the table and charge the rest to the room?
No: charging to the room takes the whole check. A tip cannot go on a folio either: remove it, or settle the check at the table.
The guest has already checked out.
Their folio is closed, so the check cannot go to it. Settle it at the table.
Does the guest get a restaurant bill?
No restaurant invoice is printed for a check charged to a room. The items appear on the hotel's invoice at check-out.
The charge is refused: "This folio is not on a checked-in stay."
Charge the check to an in-house guest's folio or an event's folio. A folio of a guest who has checked out is closed.
A refund is refused: "Part of a line of this check was moved to another folio by a split transfer."
Move the line back to one folio, then refund or void the check (Move payments and charges between folios).
The charge is refused because of the guest's credit limit.
The stay is over its limit or marked no-post. A manager approves, or the guest pays at the table (Stay credit limits and no-post).
