Q: What are the steps of an item?

Found , Stored , Claimed , then Returned , or Disposed when the hotel's keeping period is over. The list In custody shows every item that is not yet returned or disposed of.

Q: How do I find an item a guest asks about?

Search by item, room, guest or finder. Use the Returned , Disposed or All list for items that left custody.

Record what was found, where it is kept, and whether it was returned or disposed of.

Log an item

Housekeeping › Lost & found > new item: What was found (colour, brand, contents, condition), the Room or Or where, Found by, and Kept at (store, shelf or bag number).

Return or dispose

Search by item, room, guest or finder.

Worked example: a phone charger found in room 204

Housekeeping finds a charger when cleaning room 204. On Housekeeping › Lost & found press Log found item and enter What was found ("White phone charger"), a Description ("Two-pin plug, 1 metre cable"), the Room (204), Found by (your name is filled in) and Kept at ("Front office safe").
The item starts as Found. Press Store once it is in the safe: an item cannot be Stored without Kept at.
The guest phones to ask for it. Press Claimed, pick the guest under Owner and save.
The guest collects it. Press Returned and save. Returned on may be left empty: it then takes the business date.

An item nobody claims stays in the In custody list. The screen shows how many items are Over 90 days, which can be disposed of; Disposed asks you to confirm, and warns if the item was found less than 90 days ago.
