Reopen a closed business date

A manager can reopen the last closed day to correct it, then the night audit closes it again. Most corrections do not need it.

For Night auditor Manager

Do you need to reopen?

Usually not. A correction is normally posted on today's business date:

Reopen only when something must be dated on the closed day itself.

Reopen

  1. Open Night audit
    Who
    Night auditor or manager
    Where
Night audit > Previous business date > Reopen
    What changes
Only the latest closed date can be reopened.
  2. Say Why the date must be reopened
    What changes
At least 10 characters: what must be corrected.
  3. Ask for approval and reopen
    Approval
A manager approves with their PIN (always).
    What changes
The business date goes back to the reopened day. Postings are dated on it again.
  4. Correct, then close the day again
    Where
    Night audit > Close (date)

Dates are reopened latest first: to reopen an older day, reopen the days after it first.

Common questions

Who can reopen a day?

The night auditor or a manager asks for it, and a manager always approves with their PIN.

Does reopening change invoices or receipts already made?

No. Nothing posted in Accounting is undone by a reopen.

The guest's charge is on the right day but on the wrong folio.

That does not need a reopen. While its day is still open, move it with Move lines (Move payments and charges between folios). A line from a closed day cannot be moved: reverse it today and charge the right folio today (Charges, discounts and voids on a folio).
