Open Opportunities: "Deals by stage for ledger customers, with value and forecast."
The page
- Figures: Open deals, Pipeline value ("Open deals in this pipeline, all owners"), Weighted forecast ("Value times stage probability") and Won (with the number lost).
- Board or List view, for one pipeline. On the board each card has a Move to stage choice; a deal not updated for 30 days is flagged.
- Forecast: open deals only, by expected close month and owner, for the pipeline, owner and search you chose.
- New opportunity: Deal, Customer (a customer in Accounting), Pipeline, Stage, Deal value, Probability, Expected close, Owner, Status (Open, Won, Lost; Why it was lost when lost), Notes.
Quotations
An opportunity's Create quotation opens Accounting's sales quotation screen in a new tab, where you choose the customer. The quotation is an ordinary sales quotation in Accounting; CRM keeps no quotations of its own.
Pipelines and stages
Pipelines are set up in CRM settings > Pipelines and stages (this needs the permission to manage CRM settings): pipelines of type Sales, Service or Renewal, one of them the default; and stages, each with an order, a colour, a win probability, and whether it counts as won or lost.
| Message | Why |
|---|---|
| "This is the default pipeline. Make another pipeline the default first." | The default pipeline cannot be switched off or deleted |
| "N open opportunities are in this pipeline (stage). Move or close them first; closed deals keep their history either way." | A pipeline or stage that still has open deals cannot be switched off |
| "N opportunities use this pipeline (stage), so it cannot be deleted. Switch it off instead." | A pipeline or stage used by any deal cannot be deleted |
| "A pipeline needs at least one active stage. Add or switch on another stage first." | The last active stage cannot be switched off |
| "The stage X is switched off. Choose an active stage." | A deal cannot be saved on a switched-off stage (or pipeline, or a stage of another pipeline, or a stage that no longer exists) |
Common questions
Does a won deal create an invoice?
No. A won deal posts nothing and creates no sales document. Revenue shows in CRM only when an invoice is saved in Accounting.
I cannot switch off a pipeline or a stage.
It still has open deals ("Move or close them first"), or it is the default pipeline ("Make another pipeline the default first"), or it is the last active stage of its pipeline.
Can I delete a pipeline that was used?
No. A pipeline or stage used by any deal cannot be deleted: switch it off instead.
