Choose what a role may open and do

On Role & Scopes you pick a role and tick the menus and permissions it has. Saving replaces the role's whole list. People with the role see the change when they next sign in.

For Administrator Owner

On this page

The screen

Open Role & Scopes (menu Role & Scopes; the page is titled Role). It has two tabs.

TabYou chooseYou tick
Role wise scopeA RoleThe Permission tree: menus and permissions
Role wise quick menuA RoleThe quick-menu shortcuts the role shows

Choose the permissions

  1. Choose the role
    Who
    Administrator
    Where
    Role wise scope > Role
    What changes
The tree shows every permission the company has, with those already on this role ticked. Entries that are menus are marked as menus; the others are actions such as seeing, adding, editing or deleting.
  2. Tick what the role needs
    Where
    Permission
    What changes
Ticking a group ticks everything in it. A menu makes the screen appear in the person's menu and opens it; the actions under it decide what the person can do there. A role with a menu but without "add" can open the list and cannot add.
  3. Save
    Where
    Save
    What changes
The ticked list becomes the role's whole list: anything you cleared is taken away. A menu ticked here also brings the menu groups above it.

Choose the quick menu

On Role wise quick menu choose a role, tick the shortcuts, and press Save. The table shows each shortcut's Label, Description, Group, Group order, Display order and URL. A person sees the shortcuts of all their roles together. The message is "Mapping saved".

If a permission you need is not in the tree

The tree holds only what the company's licence includes. If a screen the business needs is not listed, it is not part of the licence: ask your Penahak contact (How the licence decides what a company has, A menu item, a tab or a screen is missing).

Common questions

I ticked a new permission, but the person still cannot see the screen.

Ask them to sign out and in: the menu is read at sign in.

Can I take permissions away from the Administrator role?

No, the screen refuses it. Make another role with what the person needs and give them that role.

I cleared a permission. When does it stop working?

The system refuses the action from the person's next step; the menu item disappears at their next sign in.

The Administrator can open everything, but my role's tree shows far less ticked.

The Administrator role always has everything the licence holds. Any other role has only what is ticked for it here.

Does one Save cover both tabs?

No. Role wise scope and Role wise quick menu each have their own Save. Saving the permissions does not save the shortcuts, and the other way round.
