The Backup / Restore screen

The screen lists the backups made for the company, lets you make a new one, download one, and restore one over the company's data. It describes only what the buttons do; it does not promise that a backup exists for any day.

What the screen shows

Open Backup / Restore (menu Backup & Restore). It has two tabs.

TabShowsYou can
BackupOne row per backup made: Destination database, Backup start date, Backup end date, Source database, Backup file nameMake a new backup, download a backup, restore one, filter, export the list to Excel or PDF
Upload & restoreOne row per restore done: Destination database, Restore date, the backup's start and end dates, Source database, Backup file nameFilter and export the list

A backup row whose file is no longer there shows Not available instead of the buttons.

Make a backup

On the Backup tab choose Backup and confirm "Do you want to backup your database now?". The message "Backup is being processed in background." appears. Refresh the list after a short while: the new backup is listed there once it has been made. A big company takes longer.

Download a backup

On a row choose the download button and confirm "Download database". The file is saved by your browser. A downloaded file holds the company's data: keep it where only the people who need it can open it.

Restore a backup

  1. Choose the backup
    Who
    Administrator
    Where
Backup tab > the row's restore button
    What changes
"Do you want to restore?" with the box Backup before restore, already ticked. Do not click the box: a click turns the backup before the restore off although the box still shows ticked.
  2. Confirm
    What changes
The message "Data restore process is running in the background." appears. Nothing else shows on the screen: wait until Penahak support says it is finished, and do not use the company meanwhile.
    Needs
The backup file must still exist and must be one the system made itself: a file that is not recognised is refused with "Backup file is not valid."
