The activity record

The Activity screen lists what users did: the action, the module, a message, the user and the time. Filter by user, action, module, reference or date, and print the result.

What you see

Open Activity (menu Activity Logs). One row is one thing a user did. The columns are Module, Action, Log message, Reference number, Transaction amount, User, Date and Time. A message that links one document to another ends with "and link with ... :" and the other document's number.

When the page opens it shows the dates from the start of the fiscal year to today. Open the filter to narrow it or widen it:

FilterFinds
ActionInsert, update, delete, download, restore and so on
ModuleOne area. The list offers the areas that have rows, each as a short code (see below)
Reference numberOne document's number
Linked voucher noA document linked to another
Transaction amountAn amount or a range
UserWhat one person did
DateA day or a range

The print button prints the rows you have filtered as a report ("Activity log by date").

The Module column shows a short code for the area. The ones on the administration screens:

CodeArea
USRUsers, including their role and branch mapping and password changes
RLRoles and their permissions
BRBackup and restore
NANetwork access
CURCurrencies
FINYEARFiscal years
FINCLOFinancial year closing

Documents (invoices, receipts and so on) use their own document codes.

What it is good for

  • "Who changed this user's role?" Filter Module to USR or RL.
  • "Who made this invoice?" Filter by the Reference number.
  • "Who restored the database?" Filter Module to BR.

What it does not hold

Not every screen writes to it. Changes to branches, document numbering, the company details, address lists, notification templates and merchant details are not recorded here, and neither is turning a user or a role on or off or locking a user. Do not rely on Activity to answer who did one of those.
