Attendance can be collected from a physical device rather than entered by hand. Devices are registered against a branch and grouped, so a multi-site business can manage them together.
What a device record holds
- Device name — how it appears in the list. Use the physical location, e.g. “Main gate”.
- Device IP and device port — where Penahak reaches it on the network.
- Admin user and admin password — the device’s own administrative credentials.
- Device group and group name — for managing several devices together.
- Branch and active flag.
Practical advice
- Give the device a static IP, or a DHCP reservation. A device whose address changes silently stops delivering attendance.
- Register devices by physical location rather than by model, so a fault report is unambiguous.
- Check that every employee who punches on a device is enrolled on it and mapped to their employee record, or their punches will not attach to anyone.
- Deactivate rather than delete a device you retire, so historical attendance keeps its source.
Reconcile device attendance before the pay run, not during it. Missing punches become employee requests, and those need approving before payroll is generated.
