Most attendance corrections come from employees rather than from HR. Requests are raised in self-service and approved by a manager, so the correction carries a trail.
Attendance correction
For a missed or wrong punch, the request captures the attendance date, the check-in and check-out times, and an attendance location — useful for staff working away from a device.
Overtime and extra work
An extra-work request captures the date and the number of hours. There is a bank overtime option: instead of being paid, the hours are banked and taken as time off later. Decide which of the two your policy uses before go-live, because it changes what the pay run does with the hours.
Half days
Leave requests can mark the first day or the last day as a half day, so a period of leave that starts after lunch is recorded accurately rather than rounded.
Claims
An expense claim carries a claim amount and the date it was incurred.
Cancellations
A request can be cancelled with cancellation remarks, so a withdrawn request is distinguishable from a rejected one.
Close the request queue before generating payroll. An unapproved missed punch is an absence as far as the pay run is concerned, and correcting it after posting means a reversal rather than an edit.
