The local bridge is what turns Penahak print jobs into paper. It runs on the machine the printers are attached to, polls Penahak for pending jobs, and sends them to the local operating-system printer.
Before you start
- The printers must already be installed in Windows and printing a test page successfully. The bridge uses the OS printer, so if Windows cannot print, neither can the bridge.
- The machine needs network access to Penahak.
- Note the exact Windows printer names — you will need them for station mapping.
Installing
- Install the Penahak desktop application on the machine.
- Sign in with an account that has terminal access.
- Register the terminal so Penahak knows which counter or station this machine represents.
- Confirm the bridge is running — it polls every ten seconds and reports its status.
Checking it works
Send a test print from the receipt or ticket configuration. A successful job is acknowledged back to Penahak and disappears from the pending queue. A failure is reported against the job with a reason, and the job is retried.
Leaving it running
The bridge runs while the user is logged in. If a kitchen machine is regularly logged off or restarted, tickets queue until it comes back — they are not lost, but they are not printed either. Set these machines to log in automatically and stay on during service.
