HR, Attendance & Payroll

Employee lifecycle, attendance, leave and payroll in one chain — payroll runs off real attendance, and the result posts straight into accounting.

The problem

From the shift roster to the posted salary journal.

Payroll built on a spreadsheet of hours someone typed up on the 28th is payroll built on hope. In Penahak the pay run reads the attendance, leave and loan records that were captured as they happened, and posting it creates the salary journal in the ledger.

Who uses it

  • HR, who own the employee lifecycle and leave policy
  • Line managers, who approve leave and see their team’s attendance
  • Payroll officers, who run and post the pay cycle
  • Employees, who use self-service for requests and payslips
How it works

The workflows you will actually use

Not a feature list — the sequences your team runs day to day.

A pay cycle

  1. Close attendance for the period and clear outstanding leave approvals.
  2. Confirm joiners, leavers and salary changes are recorded.
  3. Enter one-off other income and deductions.
  4. Generate the run and review the register — look for large changes, zero or negative net pay, and loans that should have finished.
  5. Post. The salary journal hits wage expense, statutory liabilities, loan recoveries and net pay payable.

Leave, from request to balance

  1. Employee raises the request from self-service.
  2. It routes to their manager through the approval chain.
  3. Approved leave updates the balance and the team calendar.
  4. It flows into the next pay run as paid or unpaid.

Issuing a staff loan

  1. Employee raises a loan request.
  2. It passes through multi-step approval.
  3. On issue, a repayment schedule is created.
  4. Instalments deduct automatically in later pay runs, and the outstanding balance is visible in both HR and the ledger.

Connected, not integrated

What it shares with the rest of the platform

These are not integrations between separate products. They are modules on one ledger, one party master and one product catalogue.

Accounting

An approved pay run posts the salary journal, so payroll cost is in the P&L without re-entry.

Attendance

Shifts, lateness and absence drive what the pay run calculates.

Notifications

Payslip availability and approval requests can trigger SMS or email.

Reports

Payroll register, attendance summary and loan outstanding all drill to the employee record.

Every module posts into one ledgerEight Penahak modules arranged around a central accounting ledger. Each module sends source documents inward to the ledger, and the ledger feeds a single reporting layer.
