Penahak now runs hotels, restaurants and retail on one ledger.
Penahak
Module

Accounting & Finance

A double-entry core with a real chart of accounts, cost centres, fiscal-year control and immutable posting. Every sale, folio, payroll run and stock movement in Penahak resolves to a source document here.

The problem

The financial engine every other module posts into.

This is not a reporting layer that reads from other systems. It is the ledger those systems write to. When a cashier rings up a sale, when night audit posts a room charge, when payroll is approved, the resulting document is created here, with its tax treatment, its dimensions and its audit trail attached.

Who uses it

  • Accountants and finance managers, who own the chart of accounts, posting and reconciliation
  • Business owners, who read the balance sheet, P&L and cash position
  • Auditors, who need to trace any figure to a source document
How it works

The workflows you will actually use

Not a feature list — the sequences your team runs day to day.

Closing a month

  1. Reconcile each bank account against its statement.
  2. Review the day book for anything posted to a suspense or default ledger.
  3. Check receivable and payable ageing for balances that should have cleared.
  4. Confirm stock valuation ties to the stock ledger.
  5. Run the trial balance, then the balance sheet and P&L.

Correcting a posted invoice

  1. Open the invoice and confirm what is actually wrong.
  2. Raise a credit note against it — the original is never edited.
  3. Issue a corrected invoice.
  4. The timeline retains both documents, the approving user and the reason.

Setting up a new ledger

  1. Create the ledger under the right group so it rolls up correctly.
  2. Set its type, opening balance and any sub-ledger behaviour.
  3. Map it to the transactions that should post to it — bill terms, tax terms, settlement.
  4. Post one test transaction and check it lands where you expect.
Capabilities

15 capabilities ship with this module

  • Bank reconciliation, cash/bank summaries and settlement ledger mapping
  • Fixed-asset register with depreciation schedules

  • Current and post-dated cheque (PDC) processing
  • Project-based and cost-centre accounting
  • Transaction approval workflow before a document is committed
  • Custom fields, notes and internal comments on each transaction

Connected, not integrated

What it shares with the rest of the platform

These are not integrations between separate products. They are modules on one ledger, one party master and one product catalogue.

Retail POS

Counter sales, refunds and shift cash post as source documents with their settlement ledgers.

Hospitality

Each folio produces exactly one SalesBill at checkout, with tax, service charge and city-ledger lines.

Inventory

Stock movements carry cost out of inventory into cost of goods sold as goods are sold.

HR & Payroll

An approved pay run posts the salary journal: wage expense, statutory liabilities, loan recoveries and net pay payable.

Every module posts into one ledgerEight Penahak modules arranged around a central accounting ledger. Each module sends source documents inward to the ledger, and the ledger feeds a single reporting layer. Questions

About Accounting & Finance

Yes. Masters and opening balances are imported during implementation and the opening trial is reconciled against your previous closing balance before you begin transacting.

No, and this is deliberate. Corrections go through credit notes, debit notes or reversing journals, each recorded with the approving user and a reason. It is what makes the audit trail defensible.
